The Owensboro Symphony’s annual Concert on the Lawn returns Saturday, featuring music from cinema and Broadway, patriotic songs, and more.
The family-friendly concert begins at 7 p.m. on the front lawn of Kentucky Wesleyan College, located at 3000 Frederica Street. Picnicking on the grounds will begin at 5:30 p.m.
“We will bring the best of the Boston Pops to the lawn. The audience will enjoy a wide array of popular favorites made famous by one of America’s most iconic orchestras,” said Troy Quinn, Owensboro Symphony Music Director and Conductor. “This toe-tapping performance will be fun for all ages.”
The community is encouraged to pack a picnic, bring lawn chairs and blankets, and arrive early for activities beginning at 5:30 p.m.
“Concert on the Lawn has been an end of the summer tradition since 1987,” said Symphony CEO Gwyn Payne. “It’s an awesome evening to connect with family and friends, sit back, relax, and listen to great music.”
While the event is free and guests can bring their own food, there are options for those who want to sit at a table and eat a catered dinner. Reservations must be made in advance. There are three options available for reserved seating and dinner:
- A table, chairs, and dinner for eight people can be reserved for $400.
- A table and eight chairs with no meal can be reserved for $200.
- Individual dinners with no seating can be reserved for $25 per person.
The dinner will be catered by Moonlite Bar-B-Que and includes fried chicken, smoked ham, vegetables, cobblers, and tea/lemonade.
Make a reservation by calling the Symphony at 270-684-0661, ext. 113, or by visiting OwensboroSymphony.org.
