Billboard‘s two global charts (the latest of which are dated Feb. 6) rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by MRC Data. The Billboard Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the U.S.
Chart rankings are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.
100 Million-Plus Streams for Third Week
Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” holds atop the Billboard Global 200 with 110.5 million streams (down 20%) and 27,000 sold worldwide (down 32%) in the Jan. 22-28 tracking week, the week’s top sums in both metrics.
The single by the singer-songwriter and actress, 17, initially known for her roles in Disney Channel’s Bizaardvark and Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, has posted global totals of over 100 million streams in each of its first three weeks, following its opening frame of 130.1 million and last week’s 138.9 million. It’s the first song by a woman with such a three-week run since the Global 200 began, and the second overall, after Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez’s “Dákiti” did so for four consecutive (and total) weeks in November-December.
Rounding out the Global 200’s top five, The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” returns to its No. 2 high from No. 3; “Dákiti” rises 4-3, after three weeks at No. 1; BTS’ “Dynamite” climbs 6-4, after four weeks on top; and 24kGoldn’s “Mood,” featuring Iann Dior, keeps at No. 5, after hitting No. 2.
‘License’ Leads; Tiësto, The Weeknd Hit Top 10
Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” concurrently rules the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for a third week, with 68.9 million streams (down 14%) and 10,000 sold (down 20%) in territories outside the U.S. in the Jan. 22-28 tracking week.
The song is the first to dominate the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts simultaneously for three consecutive weeks, passing BTS’ “Dynamite” and Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez’s “Dákiti,” each of which logged two-week streaks.
The Nos. 2-4 songs on the Global Excl. U.S. chart stay in place: “Dynamite,” at No. 2 after a record eight weeks at No. 1; “Dákiti” (No. 3), following its five-week reign; and The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” (No. 4), which reached No. 3.
24kGoldn’s “Mood,” featuring Iann Dior, caps the Global Excl. U.S. top five, rising 7-5, after peaking at No. 2.
Tiësto tallies his first Global Excl. U.S. top 10, as “The Business” jumps 15-8. The song by the Dutch DJ/producer, who has been appearing on Billboard charts for nearly 20 years, ascends with 21.9 million streams (up 19%) and 6,000 sold (up 14%) worldwide beyond the U.S. in the tracking week. It topped the U.S.-based Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart in November and leads Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales for a second week this week.
Elsewhere in the Global 200 Excl. U.S. top 10, The Weeknd’s “Save Your Tears” ranks in the tier for the first time, pushing 14-10 with 27.6 million streams (up 2%) and 5,000 sold (up 14%) outside the U.S. in the tracking week. It repeats at its No. 9 best on the Global 200, with 40 million streams and 10,000 sold worldwide (up 2% in both metrics).
