Gas Street Music (formerly Worship Central) have announced the forthcoming release of their single ‘Praise To You Alone’ on January 15th 2021. The song was written by Nick Herbert, Josh Gauton, Anna Hamilton and Jimmy James.

Gas Street Music is a worship community based at Gas Street Church in Birmingham, UK. “We believe everything we do (or ‘our lives’) should be woven in worship, with a focus to wholeheartedly lead people into an encounter with Jesus. Featuring worship leaders and songwriters such as Tim Hughes, Luke & Anna Hellebronth, Nick Herbert, Millie Tilby (Lead vocal on ‘Praise To You Alone’), Michael Shannon and more, together we continue the legacy of writing and leading songs that fuel personal devotional and congregational expression.”

‘Praise To You Alone’ is about Jesus as the revealing of God’s unconditional love. He’s the centre of our worship. The gospel narrative is everything to us, without it we’re lost. Our worship needs a direction otherwise we get caught in idolatry. This song signals a desire to push into some new territory sonically.

The song has this chilled atmospheric feel to it at the start, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have an impact on you. I had the chorus melody stuck in my head all day. The song grows as it continues, from a reflective song to song that will leave you with your hands high in praise, when you put together a steady drum beat, synths and creative music and mix that with the haunting and stunning vocals of Millie you end up with a beautiful worship song, that grows and grows and grows into a belter.

Gas Street Music have so many talented worshippers that it’s not a surprise they release music like this, but what I would say is that this song really impacted me, more than I was actually expecting. There is something very special in this song, as you would expect at the heart of this song is a bunch of worshippers writing a song for us to use to worship God. And that’s what we must do with songs like this, hold onto God and worship.
