Clemson PD won’t cite bar that threw concert amid COVID pandemic

A downtown Clemson nightclub that hosted a weekend concert violated Gov. Henry McMaster’s orders barring large gatherings, according to a spokesperson for the State Law Enforcement Division.

“After reviewing the video evidence provided to SLED by Clemson PD, agents were able to determine Study Hall violated the Governor’s Executive Order (GEO) referring to gatherings,” SLED spokesperson Tommy Crosby said in an email.

Study Hall, the two-story bar at the corner of Sloane Street and College Avenue, held a concert on Jan. 8, which brought hundreds of unmasked attendees out, according to statements from city police and videos shared on social media.

Crosby said the agency sent an “administrative written warning” to the bar and the case is now closed.
