The two charts (the latest of which are dated Jan. 16) premiered in September and rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by MRC Data. The Billboard Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the U.S.
Chart rankings are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.
Record-Tying 4th Week atop Global 200
BTS’ “Dynamite” rules the Billboard Global 200 for a fourth week despite a 3% drop to 55.6 million streams and a 15% dip to 18,000 sold worldwide in the Jan. 1-7 tracking week. The song matches the reign of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” for the longest since the chart premiered. (“Christmas” departs the chart this week directly from No. 1; a week earlier, it added its fourth frame on top, with the Jan. 9-dated ranking having reflected the Dec. 25-31 tracking week.)
Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez’s “Dákiti” holds at No. 2 on the Global 200, after three weeks at No. 1, with a worldwide-best 64.1 million streams in the tracking period.
Justin Bieber’s new single “Anyone” debuts at No. 3 on the Global 200, with 45.4 million streams and 33,000 sold, the week’s top sales sum, globally in the week ending Jan. 7, following its Jan. 1 release. Bieber notches his fourth top 10 on the tally, the most among all acts in the chart’s brief history; he passes BTS and Ariana Grande, each with three.
Rounding out the Global 200’s top five, 24kGoldn’s “Mood,” featuring Iann Dior, rises 5-4, after reaching No. 2, and The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” slips to No. 5 from its No. 4 best.
Plus, two songs make their first appearances in the Global 200’s top 10: Dua Lipa’s “Levitating,” featuring DaBaby (13-8; 33.3 million streams, 11,000 sold), and CJ’s “Whoopty” (18-10; 34 million streams, 4,000 sold). Lipa and hip-hop newcomer CJ earn their first Global 200 top 10s, while DaBaby logs his third.
Record-Extending 8th Week atop Global Excl. U.S.
BTS’ “Dynamite” remains in the top spot on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, with 48.3 million streams (down 3%) and 15,000 sold (down 7%) in territories outside the U.S. in the Jan. 1-7 tracking week. The song reigns for a record-extending eighth total week.
“Dynamite” has now led the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts simultaneously for four total frames, the longest concurrent rule of any title. It surpasses Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez’s “Dákiti,” which has topped both charts simultaneously for three weeks.
“Dákiti” keeps at No. 2 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, after five total weeks at No. 1; The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” pushes 4-3, reaching a new high; 24kGoldn’s “Mood” rises 6-4, after hitting No. 2; and Karol G’s “Bichota” holds at its No. 5 best.
Elsewhere in the Global Excl. U.S. top 10, Justin Bieber’s “Anyone” debuts at No. 6 (30 million streams, 11,000 sold), joined by two other tracks new to the top 10: YOASOBI’s “Yoru Ni Kakeru” (29-9; 15.4 million streams, 27,000 sold) and Dua Lipa’s “Levitating” (16-10; 23 million streams, 3,000 sold). Bieber banks his record-extending fourth top 10 on the chart, Lipa adds her second and YOASOBI achieves its first, with the pop duo’s track (which translates to “Racing Into the Night” in English) having dominated Billboard‘s Japan Hot 100 chart for six weeks between May and October 2020.
