From Miley Cyrus to Post Malone, Here Are 6 Amazing Covers of Metallica’s ‘Nothing Else Matters’

“Nothing Else Matters,” originally released in 1991, has been covered countless times over the years. We’ve compiled six of our favorites. See them below.

Miley Cyrus

The all-star collaboration isn’t the first time Miley has covered “Nothing Else Matter.” She delivered the haunting hit at Glastonbury Festival in 2019.

While on her The Sun Comes Out World Tour, Shakira included an emotional medley of “Nothing Else Matters” and her original song “Despedida” on her set list.

Post Malone

In 2018, Post Malone performed a cover of the Metallica hit on tour. Less than a year later, he shared a series of photos on Twitter posing alongside the band.

Warren Haynes and the Dead

In 2004, The Dead embarked on a summer tour featuring Warren Haynes alongside Grateful Dead members Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart, plus Jimmy Herring and Jeff Chimenti. At Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York, the group performed a cover of “Nothing Else Matters.”

Macy Gray

In 2016, Gray released a cover album called Stripped, which included a jazzy rendition of the 1991 Metallica classic.

“I like what it means to me,” she told Vulture of the song. “You never fully know what the writer was thinking, but for me, it’s this thought of where we could all be in the way that we approach things, see things, and deal with things. You’re just reminded of what’s important and what really matters at the end of the day. And it’s so pretty. When it first came out, I wasn’t a big heavy-metal fan — I always liked Metallica, but that wasn’t my favorite song by them. I’d never really listened to the words — and lyrics are the most important part of a song — until someone was performing it at this nightclub. It was a non-heavy-metal version, so you could really hear the words he was saying. I just really fell in love with what that song means to me.

In 2010, Gregorian included their cover of “Nothing Else Matters” in their Masters of Chant album.
